Shawland's Primary School; Brief Delivery

Week 1 (01/12/15)

This unit is about working towards a real life project for a s school (Shawlands Primary).

This latest project is to create a set of ideas and work to present to Shawlands Primary School as they are looking for ideas and help with changes in their library, sensory rom and two display boards. This project is a competition and the idea that the school likes best wins and is used. Two teachers from Shawlands delivered a Power Point showcasing and explaining their needs and constraints for this project. They give us a presentation and it told us what they want for a budget or £200.

There are two choices and one is a sensory room for autistic children. They don’t want to overstimulate the children but get them to focus.

The other choice is in the library and it is to cover one wall (painted blue now) and 2 display boards. They want the boards to be for Keystage 1 and 2 and the wall to show that reading is for fun. They gave us a power point and I felt that it was not clear in details I thought would be important. I made notes and did some research at home on books, I looked at examples of display boards and autistic sensory rooms.

I decided that Autism was not something I felt comfortable with and did not know enough about so I decided to choose the library wall and 2 display boards.

I made notes in my notebook to help me in my research and started looking for ideas.

I also had to think about budgets and how could I do something really good but be able to keep from over spending.

I concentrated on primary and secondary research so I could complete my customer boards.
