James Brunt – Artist.
This is the artist who came into work with us on the
practical application of this unit. The title is Cardboard City and this is
what we did – built a cardboard city. He came into the session and introduced
himself and showed a slide show of his work which included visual images he had
created using natural resources such as sticks. He went round to each group and
provided support and ideas and he only had one rule. This was each groups separate
cardboard city had to link somehow (see blog week 2).
James Brunt works in nature media. He likes to create work
that will soon have to be destroyed by the course of nature. He makes random
art works in places such as the wood and leaves them for people to find (such
as dog walkers). He works with sticks and leaves to create images, sometimes
rocks. An example would be when he went to the beach and created a piece of
work with rocks he found there.
He likes nice composition in photos as he always like to
photograph his work afterwards so he can capture the moment.
He is working on the
World War 1 Centenary project and he intends to use images of a soldiers faces
to build a bigger image
