I have started to look at all my work and
pick out the images I had matched with the quotes from people I had asked my
question and then start categorize them. I have decided to display the work in a
photo album but with a scrapbook feel. Both items are personal and unique and
this is what I want to show what I believe Freedom to be – something unique and
personal to each individual. I though of the quotes and pictures and decided
they were snapshots – a quick reflection of a word, idea or image all related
to freedom. This is where I decided to call my book ‘ Snapshots of Freedom.’
I then looked at how I could relate all
this to the anniversary of the Magna Carta so my work would relate to the
exhibition and the anniversary.
I found an old image of the Magna Carta and I
copied and pasted this onto A4 paper. I then found the national logo for the
800th celebrations and the actual quote from the Magna Carta, which
actually gives people rights or basically freedom in 1215 and put these on top.
I printed it off on yellow parchment paper to make it look old and then I
melted some wax on an old piece of ribbon then stuck a pound coin in the wax to form a
seal, similar to the seal on the original Magna Carta.
