Week 6 - Freedom

I continued to work on individuals from last week and chose people who were personal to me. Linda McCartney is one individual who inspires me as I chose to be a vegetarian like her and use my artwork to express myself. Linda used her photography to highlight animal rights, something that expressed her personal beliefs. I did this drawing on black paper with white pencil and found it challenging but I am very pleased with the outcome.
I also chose Malala Yousfazi a young Pakistani girl who got shot in the head for wanting an Education in her home country. I found this upsetting and shocking as I thought that the right to an education was offered to everybody. Until this happened I never had really thought of people having to fight for an education.

I looked at other people and thought of individuals from the past that I think have made a great impact on freedom and how we understand it. An obvious one was Nelson Mandela as he was part of my time as well as my parents and he is a good example to show what freedom should mean to people.
