Project Title

What is Freedom? An individual
opinion of Freedom
|
||
Section 1: Rationale (Approx 100
words)
|
|||
My project brief is the word Freedom
which links into the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta. I
thought about what Freedom means to me and realised the word means different
things to individuals past and present. I then looked at images and
quotations and it confirmed that there is not one clear interpretation of
Freedom. Everybody will have a different understanding of the word, have a
different meaning in what freedom means to them and have a different image to
represent this.
I have decided to link it together
and build a sketchbook of images and quotes both past and present.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx
200 words)
|
|||
My idea of freedom is being grateful
for the beginning of rights the Magna Carta gave to people and these have
developed where an individual can express their own opinion and imagination.
Freedom is expressing yourself, whether
it is through drawing and painting, writing, singing, drama, speaking your
opinion or even a hobby like gardening.
I am deciding to ask family members
and friends of different genders and age groups their view on what Freedom
means to them. I have also tweeted some celebrities asking their views on
Freedom but I am not particularly expecting a response – it was just another
idea I had to research my rationale.
I have researched quotes on Freedom
ranging from Nancy Astor, Voltaire to Noel Fielding (making it relevant to
me). I am then going to try and portray the quotes in the format of sketches
and drawings using different media so I can create bright and visual individual
sheets which will also demonstrate my idea that Freedom can be represented by
anything and is due to individual interpretation.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx 50
words)
|
I will evaluate my research and chose a
cross section of quotes and images which I will then try and portray in a
visual format in my sketchbook. I hope my completed work will reflect my
original idea that that there is no clear interpretation of freedom but it is
down to an individuals perception (which in a way is a reflection of personal
freedom).
